I'm sure most of you have caught the visually exciting, sonically stimulating and, sometimes, side-splitting act from the U.K. that is STOMP. Xiao mei Tricia bought us a pair for yesterday's afternoon matinee at the Esplanade and I must say we thoroughly enjoyed it!
The unique combination of choreographed movement, percussion and visual comedy with the occassional but really funny and quirky oral outbursts kept us wanting for more. I must say they are a bunch of really, really talented people because everything flowed flawlessly although to me, it woulld be a very difficult thing to do - tap dancing and beating and shaking and everything while maintaining the rhythm in a synchronised manner. It was short of magical! Hee hee.. We had such good fun that two hours went by like 20 minutes (compared to the 2 hour Lords of The Dogtown movie we watched later that felt like 2 days).
Well, overall I think it's good that Singapore audiences are loosening up - the show was certainly not short of moments of audience enthusiastic interaction but there were still inconsiderate ugly Singaporeans with their blinding mobile phones marring the view, beat-challenged idiots who insisted on adding their own clanking on the railing and the guy in front of me totally blocked my view by leaning against the railing (we were up on the second level facing the stage). Ok, enough of my griping lest I blow an artery typing this and thinking about anal retards. Hee hee.. *evil smirk*
Back to Stomp, I'm afraid yesterday was their last performance but I'm sure they'll be back again. I certainly hope so...
