No, this is NOT a review of the movie because I don't think it even deserves a space in MY journal (hahaha!) but rather about a bad experience we had while watching it at Golden Village Yishun.
Why did I watch it at such a wu lu place you ask? Well, Tricia and I signed up for a bead jewelry class organised by Izel Ang (http://chainofbeads.com) and she conducts her class at her house in block 208 Yishun.
Anyway, before I digress further (and I do that a lot, I know) - we watched the 5.15pm show in a half-filled cinema hall which is nothing to shout about. 15 minutes into the show, the screen went BLANK and the emergency lights came on. Well, the announcement about a power failure in the cinema came very promptly but what followed was more horrendous than the movie itself.
After a man's voice thanked us for our patience throught the PA system, a very irritating background music came on but the movie resumed in a minute and, horror of horrors, minus the sound BUT with the irritating background music still blaring. So, we had to go through another 5 minutes of 'what-the-fish?!' and I decided 'That's it!' and I proceeded to seek the cinema personnel with a thousand profanities in my mind, ready to be verbalised. Hahaha!! The moment I reached the last step to the door, funnily the movie's sounds came on and, feeling like a fool, I went back to my seat but I realised the stupid background music was still playing, together with the dialogue from the movie!! WTF!!
Feeling extremely pissed, I was actually battling myself to stay calm (and not scare my xiao mei) but on the other hand, I felt that this was definitely NOT what we paid for.
So, we just sat our way through the mediocre film and left the cinema without receiving a single word of apology from the cinema operator.
Bleah.
*UPDATE* Although I did not expect it but Golden Village is going to send me two complimentary movie passes after my email complaint to them! Yaaaayyyy!!!!
